ABOUT US
My name is Maria.
Seven years ago, my family and I relocated from France to McLean, Virginia.
As a former Nurse, I’ve always had a special passion for neuroscience and education. When my children were very young , I pursued training in Child Communication and Education, in order to parent them consciously.
Though not always easy, when we truly listen to them, children teach us a lot in the process.
When each child feels seen and understood as a unique individual, they bloom with confidence and kindness, becoming fulfilled persons.
Today I open my home to share my experience by providing a bright and charming space, where children can play, learn and thrive in a nourishing, safe and loving environment.
Let’s begin this trip together, discovering new words and building beautiful memories!
OUR PROGRAM
Galipette Daycare is committed to providing quality child care and early introduction to French culture.
We have imagined a flexible program to focus on the needs of the individual child by providing a stimulating atmosphere for learning along with a secure and loving environment.
We have an holistic approach, taking care of children’s physical, social and emotional wellbeing, as well as cognitive aspects of learning.
Galipette program will be using a combination of Montessori activities and Reggio Emilia inspired practices.
Children will spend their days in a sensory-rich environment where they are encouraged to explore, get their hands dirty, move their bodies in space, learn French and connect to the world and the people around them.
BILINGUAL? TRILINGUAL? WHY?
The brain of children between the ages 0-3, is in the most flexible stage, they can learn a second language as easy as they learned to walk and learn their primary language.
They absorb sounds, structures, intonation patterns and the rules of a second language very easily.
Kids that attend bilingual preschools have an increase of self- regulation skills, better ability to monitor their immediate environment, and a stronger ability to switch between tasks.
According to scientific studies, bilingual children are better able to focus, plan, prioritize and make decisions. As children get older they tend to score higher on cognitive tests and possess more effective communication skills.
My own children are trilingual, they are French and were born in Spain. They were already fluent in French and Spanish when we moved to the United States. It only took them a few months to learn English from scratch.
Their trilingual upbringing has been a lifelong gift empowering them to thrive in life.
